This week in English, we have been using drama to help us explore the wonderful story Old Bear.
The children became the toys from the story and worked together to create freeze frames showing the different ways the toys might try to reach the attic. We thought carefully about how our characters would move, what they might be thinking and feeling, and how we could use our bodies and facial expressions to show this without speaking. The children came up with lots of imaginative ideas!
Our freeze frames are now going to become a fantastic storytelling tool. The children will use their drama to help them plan and write their own versions of the story. They will be thinking about the beginning, middle and end, using their ideas from the freeze frames to add interesting details to their writing.
It has been wonderful to see the children using their imaginations, working collaboratively and bringing the characters to life through drama. We can't wait to see where their stories take us!
