The children have thoroughly enjoyed their history learning about ‘The Great Fire of London’.  We have talked about how the fire started, how it spread, the causes and consequences and how London was rebuilt.  The children have enjoyed all the activities including, drama, art, discussions, timelines and writing accounts.  We have reflected on the events with big questions: Why it is important to help others? How friends support each other? Who helps us when things go wrong? We have talked about how having hope helped the people to start again and how to persevere when things are difficult.  They considered how one small fire could have spread across a huge city and what mistakes can be learnt from this.  Finally, we discussed why it is remembered today.  What can history teach us about our lives today?

We thought you might like to see our display of the artwork the children have produced.  Also, there are pictures of the children taking part in drama.
