This week, Year 2 were invited to Willington Library on Monday afternoon.
The current theme at the library is local authors so we were treated to a lovely story by an author from Durham called ‘The Wonderful Woodlouse’ The story explores the garden with a woodlouse and a snail as they go on an adventure. As they explore the garden, they discover a new friend who needs their help. They had to try to outsmart the garden villain and carry out a daring rescue.
We were then invited to create some new garden creatures to join in the adventure. The children loved creating these and were delighted when they were told they could bring them home.
A real highlight of the visit was being allowed free time to enjoy which ever books we wanted. We could then choose one book each to bring back to the classroom and read until our next visit to the library. Has your child told you which story they chose?
What a treat to kick start a new half term!
