This week in Science, Year 1 became taste explorers! We were learning about the different types of taste and discovering how our tongues help us to taste the food we eat.
First, we talked about our tongues and taste buds. We carefully looked at our tongues and found our taste buds, thinking about how they help us to recognise different flavours.
Then came the exciting part… the taste test! We tried a selection of foods: lemon, rocket, bell pepper, strawberries and apple. We talked about how each food tasted and shared our opinions.
The lemon was definitely a favourite for making us pull some very funny faces! We all agreed that it was very sour.
After tasting each food, we gave it a rating out of 10 and compared our scores. It was interesting to discover that we didn't all have the same favourite foods – everyone has different tastes!
We had lots of fun exploring our sense of taste and learned that our taste buds help us to detect different flavours. What a delicious way to learn about Science!
